Every year, International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 across the world. It's a day when everyone shows appreciation, love, and respect towards women. A woman is said to be a beautiful creation of God! It's a day when women are recognised for playing various roles in different spheres of life. On 8 th March,2022, Dr. Mayuri Desai (Assistant Professor in Statistics, D.R. Patel & R.B.Patel Commerce College, Surat) was invited by English Dept. of our college to deliver a talk on the topic ‘Stri: Ek Shakti’. The event was held at 12.30 p.m. in room no. 10.At the outset, Prof. Priti Singaraju introduced the guest and the Principal, Dr. Pruthul Desai delivered a welcome speech. Dr. Ankita Rajyaguru offered a book bouquet to Dr. Mayuri Desai.
In her speech, Dr. Mayuriben talked about the emancipation of woman. She pointed out very clearly that the world is moving towards gender equality. It is moving towards a balance between both men and women. A change is required and is also essential. It is observed that men have had more advantages in every sphere of life in comparison to women since ages. However, this needs a change as we all are humans and we should be treated equally with equal rights and opportunities. Moreover, she added that International Women's Day is all about feeling self-worth and achieving the goals as per the potential. So women should gather the courage to cross all the hurdles in all the spheres of life to make a tremendous improvement. The event was conducted efficiently by Prof. Priti Singaraju.
